CCC QUARTERFINALS: Barrett’s Career Night Propels No. 3 Endicott Past No. 6 Roger Williams, 76-67

The Endicott men's basketball team defeated Roger Williams, 76-67, in the quarterfinal round of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) on Tuesday evening at MacDonald Gymnasium. 

Mark Barrett (Brookline, Mass.) paced the Gulls with a career-high 27 points (10-15 FG, 4-8 3PT, 3-4 FT) alongside nine rebounds, two assists, two steals, and two blocks. 

Jalen Echevarria (Lynn, Mass.) added 20 points (8-17 FG, 4-9 3PT) with five dimes and two steals, while Jeff Hill (Lynn, Mass.) chipped in with a double-figure performance with 11 points and four rebounds. 

Stephen Fama (Lynnfield, Mass.) rounded out the individual highlights with seven points and nine rebounds. 

In the opening stanza, Endicott produced a 28-19 advantage (4:58) before an 11-2 stretch to fuel its largest lead of the contest at 37-21 with 3:07 to play. The run was ignited by a Barrett lay-in, back-to-back three-pointers from Echevarria, and another Barrett bucket.

From there, Roger Williams chipped away at the gap eventually using a 7-0 spurt midway through the second half to cut the Gulls' lead to four points (44-40).

Endicott responded with a 9-3 run later in the half to jump out to a 69-57 advantage and seized momentum the rest of the way. The offensive stretch was orchestrated by Hill (5) and Barrett (4). 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls are 35-11 all-time against Roger Williams.
  • Endicott finished plus-8 (10-2) on the offensive glass.
  • The Blue and Green dominated on the fast break, 7-0.
  • The hosts edged the visitors in the painted area, 32-30.
  • Endicott dished out seven more assists, but Roger Williams had 13 more bench points.
