Chapman sets program record as Merrimack wins women’s track tri-meet

Maci Chapman set a new program record as the Merrimack women’s track and field team finished first in a tri-meet against Stonehill and St. Anselm’s at Duane Stadium, according to an April 2 announcement.

The event saw Merrimack score 158 points, ahead of Stonehill with 133 points and St. Anselm’s with 38 points. Chapman’s performance in the 5000 meters was notable for her time of 17:29.17, which gave her a margin of victory of more than fifty seconds over second place.

Chapman led a sweep for Merrimack in the 5000-meter race, with Shealin Conroy finishing second and Kristina Ponzio third. Riley Paskow contributed three victories for the Warriors by winning the 200 meters (25.30), the 400 meters (58.30), and the long jump.

Lillian Warner led another sweep in the 100 meters (12.96). Marianna Collins took first place in the 1500 meters (4:42) while Lily Thomas finished second in both that event and the 800 meters. Isabella Tomic secured first place in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:06.96.

The relay team consisting of Warner, Jennifer Baker, Piper Testa, and Madison DeCamp won the women’s 4×100 relay with a time of 49.25 seconds.

In throwing events, Bella Hayes won shot put while Cameron Zuliani claimed victory in discus and placed second in shot put; Caitlin Garrahy finished first in hammer throw.
