Merrimack junior pitcher Colby Barker was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Pitcher of the Week on March 17 after throwing seven shutout innings against Iona.
The recognition highlights Barker’s strong contribution to the Merrimack Warriors, particularly in a game where he entered with his team trailing 3-0. He pitched seven innings, struck out four batters, and allowed only three hits, helping the Warriors mount a comeback with four unanswered runs.
Barker improved his season record to 4-0, making him the only pitcher in the MAAC with such a record. In four appearances this season, he has given up just one earned run and allowed 11 hits, holding opposing hitters to a .175 batting average. His earned run average (ERA) stands at 0.46, which is first in the conference and seventh nationally.
Barker and the Warriors are scheduled to play Northeastern on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
