Erin Cammann will retire after serving as the head coach of the Merrimack College women’s swimming and diving program for more than a decade, according to a May 6 announcement.
Cammann began her tenure at Merrimack in 2015 and has spent over 25 years coaching swimming at various levels. Her departure marks the end of an era for the program.
“We are grateful for Erin’s tenure and impact as the head coach of the Merrimack women’s swimming and diving program,” Joe Foley, Merrimack athletic director, said. “We wish her nothing but the best in her next chapter.”
Reflecting on her time at Merrimack, Cammann said: “I’ve loved being at Merrimack and am so grateful to have been part of the lives of a spectacular group Merrimack students-athletes. The college, the athletic department, and the team itself have transformed over the course of my time here, and I am very proud to have been a part of that growth. I will forever be cheering for all of the Merrimack teams, but especially for the swimmers and divers to come. Go Warriors!”
During her leadership, Cammann guided the Warriors to several milestones including reaching the 2022 NE-10 Championships. She helped many swimmers set program records and led significant events such as orchestrating their first-ever senior day meet during a memorable 2017-18 season when she also helped host their first home meet. That year ended with a sixth-place finish at NE-10 Championships—the best result in program history.
Merrimack College announced it will begin a national search for its next head coach.
