Merrimack College runner Gab Qureshi was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Week, according to an announcement by the conference on April 7.

The recognition highlights Qureshi’s achievements in collegiate track and field as a freshman. Awards like these are given to student-athletes who demonstrate outstanding performances in their events.

Qureshi, who is from Quebec City, won both the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.69 seconds and the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.07 seconds at the Merrimack Track Carnival held last Friday. This marks his second conference honor this season; he was previously named Student Athlete of the Week in February.

No additional background or context about previous recipients or further details about Qureshi’s season were provided in the announcement.
