Kennedy wins seventh rookie honor as Merrimack ends regular basketball season

Guard Kevair Kennedy has been named Rookie of the Week for the seventh time this season after averaging just over 20 points per game in the final week of regular season play.

During the opening game of the weekend against Canisius, Kennedy recorded 25 points, marking his fifth consecutive game with more than 20 points. He shot 8-for-10 from the field and contributed six rebounds.

In the regular season finale victory over Niagara, Kennedy added 16 points while shooting above 50 percent and providing seven assists.

Throughout the season, Kennedy scored in double figures in all 29 games and reached at least 20 points in 15 contests.

Kennedy and his team are set to travel to Atlantic City this week as they start their campaign for the MAAC Championship. They will face either #8 Iona or #9 Sacred Heart on Friday at 6 p.m.
