The Lynnfield Village Home & Garden Club will mark 25 newly planted trees with red, white, and blue patriotic bows as part of the town’s upcoming 250th Celebration, according to an April 30 announcement. The event is scheduled for June 19-21, 2026.
The marking of these trees highlights a new initiative by the Planning Board aimed at expanding tree coverage and enhancing the town’s tree canopy. This program encourages residents to suggest locations on Town-owned properties that could benefit from additional tree plantings. The effort is intended to continue beyond the anniversary celebration.
Residents are invited to participate by identifying sites for future plantings on residential streets, public buildings and schools, parks and conservation areas, as well as trails and greenways throughout Lynnfield. Suggestions can be submitted using a form available through the Planning and Conservation Department.
Emilie Cademartori, Director of Planning & Conservation, manages this program in collaboration with the Department of Public Works (DPW) and a certified arborist. Oversight of the Tree Replacement Fund—which finances these efforts—remains with the Planning Board.
The initiative builds on Lynnfield’s Tree Preservation Bylaw adopted in 2021. The bylaw was created to encourage preservation and protection of existing trees while establishing a fund that accepts payments when protected trees are removed but not replaced. More information about this regulation can be found at https://www.lynnfieldma.gov/203/Tree-Preservation-Bylaw.
Members of the Lynnfield Village Home & Garden Club have prepared patriotic bows for each commemorative tree ahead of June’s celebration.
