Friday, March 6, saw Maine Black Bears, featuring former Swampscott High School star Pierce Friedman, drop a 12-5 decision to the Dayton Flyers in NCAA Division I baseball at 12 p.m.

The contest, held at Woerner Field, marked their opening meeting with Dayton this season.

Friedman gave up four earned runs in two innings, allowing five walks and striking out three batters.

Maine and the Flyers will meet again at Woerner Field on Saturday, March 7, with the first pitch scheduled for 12 p.m.
