Merrimack College’s baseball team will face Sacred Heart University in a three-game conference series starting this weekend, the school announced on April 16.
The matchup follows Merrimack’s recent win over the University of Rhode Island, where nine different pitchers combined for eight strikeouts. The team is aiming to continue its momentum as it returns to conference play.
Joey Frammartino, who plays right field, leads the Warriors with a .343 batting average and tops the team in on-base percentage (.511), slugging percentage (.520), and OPS (1.031). Greg Cristino has recorded a team-high six home runs and 29 runs batted in. He also leads Merrimack in doubles with ten so far this season.
Brooks Craigue has improved his batting average to .303 after collecting two hits against Rhode Island earlier this week. Matt DeShiro extended his hitting streak to six games and his on-base streak to 22 games, showing consistency at the plate. Jack Andrews hit his first home run of the season during the recent game against Rhode Island.
The Warriors are looking to build on their current form as they take on Sacred Heart in Fairfield, Connecticut.
