The Merrimack baseball team defeated Saint Peter’s 16-5 on May 9 in the opening game of a three-game series.

This result is significant as it moves the Warriors to a 15-10 record in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play and puts them in position to clinch their third-straight conference series win.

Jack Andrews led Merrimack with a career-high four hits and five runs batted in, also scoring three runs. Matt DeShiro contributed three hits, including a double, and drove in four runs. Brooks Craigue added three hits, scored once, and had one RBI. Starting pitcher James Bosari struck out three batters over five innings to earn his second win of the season.

The Warriors built an early lead by scoring one run in the first inning, followed by three runs each in the second and third innings for a 7-2 advantage. After extending their lead with a three-run fifth inning to make it 10-2, Merrimack responded to a Peacocks run with six more runs in the sixth inning.

Merrimack is scheduled to return on Saturday at 1 p.m., aiming for its fifth consecutive conference victory.
