The Merrimack baseball team lost both games of a doubleheader against Canisius on March 22, with scores of 14-3 in the first game and 5-3 in the second.
The results follow Merrimack’s win in the series opener, where they defeated Canisius 4-2 on Friday. The doubleheader losses mark a setback for the Warriors as they continue their season.
In Saturday’s first game, Matt DeShire led Merrimack by going two-for-three at bat, recording one run batted in and scoring once himself. Christian Scanlon also contributed with a hit and an RBI. During the second game, Garrett McGovern had two hits for the Warriors, while Joey Frammartino added a hit and drove in a run. Chris Goode also recorded an RBI.
On the mound, James Norsari allowed two runs over five innings for Merrimack during the second game. However, Canisius secured their victory with a three-run sixth inning that proved decisive.
Looking ahead, Merrimack is scheduled to host UMass Lowell on Tuesday for its home opener at Greater Lawrence Tech at 3 p.m.
