Merrimack College’s baseball team is set to play three games this weekend against Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.

The Warriors recently participated in the Swig and Swine Classic, where they secured a victory in their opening game. Freshman Garrett McGovern received Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Week honors after his first four collegiate games. McGovern achieved a .400 batting average, collecting four hits and four RBIs, including a double in his debut against UNC Wilmington.

Jayden Hamilton currently leads Merrimack in both hits and batting average, starting the week with a .500 average and nine hits. Four players—Matt DeShiro, Joey Frammartino, Chris Goode, and Christian Scanlon—hit their first home runs of the season. DeShiro has recorded two doubles and four RBIs so far this year.

Jack Andrews finished last weekend’s tournament with three singles. Scanlon added to his stats with a home run on Friday and accumulated four RBIs over the week.

Joey Frammartino leads the team in on-base percentage at .611 after drawing four walks last week. Pitcher Colby Barker earned Merrimack’s first win of the season by pitching 3.1 innings, allowing two hits, and striking out five batters.
