The Merrimack College baseball team will play a weekend series against Iona, marking their second conference matchup of the season, according to a March 12 announcement.
This series comes as the Warriors have won three of their last five games, including a recent series victory over Niagara. The team has shown strong performances from several key players in both pitching and hitting.
Greg Cristino currently leads Merrimack in home runs with two, after hitting one against Army. He also leads the team with 13 runs batted in this season. Joey Frammartino contributed significantly in a win over Army, raising his batting average to .342 and ranking third in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) for on-base percentage at .536.
Pitcher Colby Barker remains undefeated with a 3-0 record following last weekend’s games against Niagara. His earned run average stands at 0.71, which is second best in the MAAC, and he holds opponents to a .186 batting average. Barker is one of only two pitchers in the conference with three or more wins and has allowed just two runs across three appearances.
Third baseman Jayden Hamilton leads the Warriors with a .360 batting average and has recorded 18 hits, including two doubles and eight RBIs. Freshman Garrett McGovern continued his strong start by collecting two hits against Army; he now holds the team’s second highest batting average at .355 along with 11 hits, three doubles, and eight RBIs. Preseason All-MAAC selection Jack Andrews has driven in ten runs and leads the team with six stolen bases.
The upcoming games are scheduled for Friday at 3 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m., and Sunday at noon.
