Merrimack College baseball defeats Mount St. Mary’s to complete series sweep

The Merrimack College baseball team won against Mount St. Mary’s with a score of 16-6 on May 3, completing a three-game sweep at E.T. Straw Family Stadium.

This victory highlights Merrimack’s strong performance throughout the series, as the team scored double-digit runs in consecutive games against the Mountaineers.

Several players contributed multiple hits for Merrimack, including Greg Cristino who went 4-for-6 with five RBIs and two runs, Matt DeShiro who finished 3-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs, Chris Goode who was 3-for-4 with three runs, Joey Frammartino who went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs, and Garrett McGovern who was 2-for-5 with an RBI. The Warriors also recorded a total of 17 hits in the game.

Cristino began the scoring for Merrimack with a two-run home run in the first inning. DeShiro added an RBI on a walk during a two-run second inning. In the fourth inning, Frammartino hit a two-run home run to extend Merrimack’s lead to 7-2. The fifth inning saw six more runs from Merrimack on four hits and three walks, including key contributions from Tyler DeCrescenzo (two-run double), Frammartino (RBI single), Cristino (RBI single), Jayden Hamilton (RBI fielder’s choice), and McGovern (RBI fielder’s choice). DeShiro later hit another home run in the eighth inning for additional insurance.

Merrimack is scheduled to host Bryant at Greater Lawrence Tech on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
