Merrimack College baseball opens 2026 season against UNC Wilmington

The Merrimack College baseball team will open its 2026 season on the road against the University of North Carolina Wilmington Seahawks. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. EST.

Jack Andrews, designated hitter for the Warriors, was named to the All-MAAC baseball preseason team. Andrews had a batting average of .333 and a slugging percentage of .918 last season.

Brooks Craigue returns after finishing last year with a .265 batting average and being among the team’s leaders in hits and doubles.

Christian Scanlon, who led Merrimack in walks and on-base percentage (.420), is also back this season. Scanlon recorded six home runs and 27 RBIs last year.

Infielders Logan Castellano and Jayden Hamilton are returning as well, both having posted a .250 batting average in 2025. Hamilton was one of the team’s hit leaders, while Castellano contributed 12 doubles during the previous campaign.

James Nichols will return to pitch for Merrimack after starting nine games last season and securing two wins.

Merrimack’s opponent, UNC Wilmington, recently played a series against Maryland, winning one out of three games.
