Merrimack College announced on Mar. 30 that its baseball team will play against the Holy Cross Crusaders this Tuesday in a non-conference game at Alumni Field, scheduled for 5 p.m.
The upcoming matchup follows a successful weekend for the Warriors, who secured two consecutive wins over the Manhattan Jaspers to clinch the series. In those final two games, Merrimack outscored Manhattan by a combined total of 27-1.
Greg Cristino has been a key contributor for Merrimack, hitting two home runs during the weekend series along with two doubles and three runs batted in. Cristino currently leads the team with 26 RBIs and five home runs. Joey Frammartino also delivered strong performances, recording a double and a three-run homer over the weekend. Frammartino leads Merrimack in batting average (.357), on-base plus slugging (1.110), and slugging percentage (.571), with 19 RBIs so far this season.
Other notable performances included Matt DeShiro’s four hits and two RBIs during the Manhattan series, Brooks Craigue’s five hits—including two doubles—and four RBIs capped by a home run that brought his RBI total to twelve, and Christian Scanlon’s grand slam on Sunday which marked his fifth home run of the season.
On the pitching side, James Borsari earned his first win of the year on Saturday by holding Manhattan scoreless through five innings while allowing only five hits.
The game against Holy Cross presents another opportunity for Merrimack to build momentum as they continue their non-conference schedule.
