Christina Hathaway has been named the new head coach of the Merrimack College field hockey program, according to a May 5 announcement from the college’s athletic department.
The appointment follows Hathaway’s recent service as interim head coach after Rachel Perry’s departure. She originally joined Merrimack as an assistant in March 2025 and worked on Perry’s staff during the previous season.
“We are thrilled to welcome Christina to lead our field hockey program,” Merrimack athletic director Joe Foley said. “Her familiarity with our student-athletes, combined with her proven coaching experience and clear vision for the program’s future, make her an ideal fit. We strive for excellence across all sports at Merrimack and I am confident Christina will help our field hockey program reach new heights.”
Hathaway said she is looking forward to leading the team: “I couldn’t be more excited to step into this role at Merrimack. This is a special group of student-athletes, and I’m so energized about what’s ahead for our program. I’m grateful for the opportunity and can’t wait to see what we achieve together.”
During her time last season, Hathaway led key operations for the team, enhanced athlete development, directed recruiting efforts, and analyzed practice and game film before being promoted to a full-time role following her individual success in 2025.
A native of Norfolk, Massachusetts, Hathaway previously served as an assistant coach at her alma mater, the University of New Hampshire under longtime head coach Robin Dalducci. As a player with the Wildcats from 2018-21, she was a four-year letter winner and received the Marisa Didio Award given to student-athletes who go above expectations.
