Kevair Kennedy scored a career-high 32 points to help Merrimack College men’s basketball secure a 79-72 overtime win against Siena at Lawler Arena on Friday. The victory, which was played in front of a sold-out crowd and broadcast nationally on ESPNU, gave the Warriors at least a share of the MAAC regular-season title. This is the program’s fourth regular-season championship since moving to Division 1 seven years ago.

With this result, Merrimack improved its conference record to 15-2 and remained undefeated at home with a 10-0 mark. The team also completed a season sweep over Siena.

Kennedy’s standout performance included making eight field goals and converting all 16 of his free throw attempts. Ernest Shelton contributed 17 points—going five for eleven from three-point range—and recorded a personal best with seven rebounds.

Tye Dorset added 13 points, including three three-pointers, and grabbed four rebounds. Todd Brogna finished with six points, five rebounds, and four assists; he made an important three-pointer in overtime that helped secure the win.

KC Ugwuakazi, who leads the conference in blocks, had three blocks in addition to seven rebounds and two steals.

The Warriors are scheduled to play their final home game of the regular season on Sunday against Iona Gaels at 1 p.m., which will also serve as senior day for the team.
