Merrimack men’s lacrosse defeats Quinnipiac to advance to MAAC semifinals

The Merrimack men’s lacrosse team advanced to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference semifinals after defeating Quinnipiac 14-12 at Duane Stadium, according to an April 26 announcement.

The victory moves Merrimack, seeded fourth in the tournament, into a semifinal matchup against top-seeded Siena scheduled for Thursday at noon. The win marks an important step for the Warriors as they continue their postseason run.

Key contributors included Colin Kruger and Casey Herod, each finishing with four points. Kruger recorded two goals and two assists while Herod added a goal and three assists. John Savino scored three goals for a hat-trick, while Rob Tyra contributed two goals and one assist. Finn Dougherty also scored twice. Goalie Jaden Galfano made ten saves during the game.

Merrimack started strong by scoring three goals within the first three minutes of play but went into halftime tied with Quinnipiac at nine goals apiece.

Looking ahead, Merrimack will travel to face Siena in hopes of continuing its progress through the conference championship.
