The Merrimack College men’s basketball team will have its upcoming game against Siena broadcast nationally on ESPNU, according to an announcement from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). The game is scheduled for Friday, February 20, at 8 p.m. ET and marks the team’s first appearance on ESPNU since joining the MAAC before the 2024-25 season.
Merrimack athletic director Joe Foley stated, “We are grateful to ESPN and the MAAC for selecting our men’s basketball game to be broadcast on prime time television, and we look forward to showing off Merrimack College, our basketball program and our incredible fans to a national audience next Friday night.”
The matchup features two of the top three teams in the conference standings. Merrimack currently leads with a 16-9 overall record and a 12-2 mark in conference play. Siena holds third place with a 17-8 overall record and is one game behind second-place St. Peter’s.
Earlier this season, Merrimack secured a win over Siena with a score of 63-59.
The selection of this game for national broadcast comes through the MAAC Wildcard Game Package, which allows ESPN and the conference flexibility in choosing games that highlight strong matchups during the season.
Merrimack head coach Joe Gallo commented, “Being picked to represent the MAAC in a nationally televised game is a reflection of the success and progress our program has made of the years. It shines a spotlight on our players, our staff, and the support we receive from campus and our community, and it reinforces the standard we’re continuing to build toward.”
Before facing Siena, Merrimack will host Marist at Lawler Arena on Thursday evening and travel to Quinnipiac on Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile, Siena will play Quinnipiac and Marist before their meeting with Merrimack.
Freshman Kevair Kennedy has been recognized as MAAC Rookie of the Week four times this season while junior Ernest Shelton earned MAAC Player of the Week honors earlier in the year.
