The Merrimack College men’s ice hockey team secured a 2-1 victory over the University of New Hampshire Wildcats at Lawler Arena on Thursday night. The Warriors scored twice in the first period and maintained their lead for the remainder of the game.

Merrimack opened the scoring during a power play, with Justin Gill netting the first goal after a faceoff win. Trevor Hoskin and Caden Cranston assisted on the play. Later in the period, Cranston added an unassisted goal following a takeaway, marking his fourth goal of the season and second point of the night.

The second period remained scoreless. In the third period, New Hampshire narrowed the gap with a goal seven minutes before regulation ended. However, Merrimack goaltender Max Lundgren made several key saves, finishing with 21 stops to secure his team’s 13th win of the season.

The teams will meet again in Durham on Saturday at 7 p.m., where Merrimack will aim for a series sweep. The upcoming game will be broadcast on ESPN Plus and NESN.
