The Merrimack men’s hockey team lost to North Dakota, 3-0, in the Sioux Falls Regional at Denny Sanford Premier Center on Thursday night, March 26. The game was part of the NCAA tournament.

The match remained close for much of the contest, with Merrimack trailing by just one goal before North Dakota extended its lead early in the third period. A final empty-net goal sealed the win for North Dakota with only 45 seconds remaining.

Merrimack generated several strong scoring opportunities during a determined second-period effort but was unable to get past North Dakota goaltender Jan Spunar. Despite their efforts, the Warriors could not find the back of the net.

The result ends Merrimack’s run in this year’s NCAA tournament. The team’s performance included a notable push during key moments but ultimately fell short against a strong opponent.

Further updates on this story are expected as more information becomes available.
