Merrimack men’s track and field wins four events at UMass Lowell D’Amour Invitational

The Merrimack College men’s track and field team achieved four event victories and nine podium finishes at the UMass Lowell D’Amour Invitational on March 28.

The results highlight a strong showing by the Warriors, who competed against several teams at the Friday afternoon meet. Success in multiple disciplines demonstrates the team’s depth and preparation for upcoming competitions.

Elizardo Meleciano won the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.35 seconds, finishing three tenths ahead of his nearest competitor. Jackson Bomba placed eighth in the same event with a time of 16.61 seconds. The relay team of John Azpiri-Sudusky, Jack Lyman, Keith Townsend, and Elizardo Melenciano secured first place in the 4×400 relay with a time of 3:22.94.

In distance events, Aidan Dupill finished second in the 1500 meter race at 4:01.90, while Michael Alleva took fourth place (4:03.40) and Reidar Aageson also placed in the top eight (4:10.35). Max Zitnay earned third place in the 200 meter dash (22.80 seconds), with Elderson Moreira finishing sixth (23.34 seconds).

Other notable performances included Grant Eastin’s victory in the hammer throw with a mark of 55.10 meters; Jared Ptaszek finished third (53 meters) and Jude Ibarra fifth (47.65 meters). Hunter Schobel won triple jump with a leap of 13.48 meters; Evan Thevenot was runner-up in long jump (6.48 meters), followed by Schobel again in fifth place (6.26 meters) and Jimmy Gogbeh eighth (6.12 meters).

Keith Townsend tied for third place in high jump at 1.85 meters, while Owen LaRoss and Eastin finished fifth and sixth respectively in discus throw—43.60 and 43.46 meters each.

Kyle Adams placed sixth overall in shot put with a throw of 13.33 meters; he also came seventh in javelin at 46.24 meters.
