Merrimack men’s track opens MAAC Indoor Championships with strong performances

Merrimack College’s men’s track and field team participated in the first day of the MAAC Indoor Championships at the Armory in New York on Saturday.

Gab Qureshi secured a win in the 400 meter qualifier with a time of 48.11 seconds. He also placed fourth in the 200 meter race, finishing with a time of 21.93 seconds.

Elizardo Melenciano finished fourth in the 60 meter hurdles, clocking in at 8.36 seconds and qualifying for the final round.

Michael Alleva advanced to the final of the one-mile event after finishing eighth with a time of 4:22.11.

In field events, Jared Ptaszek and Grant Eastin both reached the Weight Throw final, recording marks of 16.37 meters and 16.24 meters respectively.

Keith Townsend placed sixth in the High Jump by clearing a height of 1.91 meters.

The conference championships will conclude tomorrow, starting at noon, and will be available for viewing on ESPN Plus.
