The Merrimack College men’s volleyball team secured a 3-2 victory over LIU in Brooklyn, overcoming a two-set deficit on Saturday night. The Warriors won with set scores of 22-25, 23-25, 26-24, 25-23, and 16-14.
This win marks the first time in program history that Merrimack has achieved a reverse-sweep victory on the road.
“Whoever is on the court, we want to compete everywhere,” said Merrimack head coach Hayden West-Mather. “It doesn’t matter the score, it doesn’t matter the gym, we want to compete with everyone. These guys showed immense resilience and now we need to build towards a competitive match against Penn State.”
Key performances included Max Tkachev’s season-high 21 kills and 10 digs for his first double-double of the season. Dallas Birkenbeuel also notched a double-double with 16 kills and 11 digs and recorded a season-high six service aces. Nick Tidik posted career highs with 15 kills and seven block assists. Blake Taschner contributed a career-best 46 assists along with seven digs and three block assists, while Kyle Standage led the team with 15 digs.
The Warriors finished the match with a season-high total of 11 blocks.
