The Merrimack College men’s volleyball team secured a five-set win against Sacred Heart on Saturday in North Andover. The match, which took place on Senior Day, saw strong performances from several players.
Head coach Hayden West-Mather commented on the significance of the victory for his senior players. “These four seniors have battled through a lot to be here,” said West-Mather. “I think today represented their resilience to a T. We are excited to beat an EIVA team after facing so many this season. Looking forward to an exciting march.”
Max Tkachev recorded his second consecutive double-double with 16 kills and 12 digs, leading the team in both categories. Dallas Birkenbeuel added 13 kills and seven digs.
Blake Taschner contributed with 12 digs, six kills, and two block assists. Nick Tidik led the Warriors in blocks with four, while senior Kyle Wagner also reached double digits in digs with 12.
Merrimack is set to face Sacred Heart again next weekend in Fairfield at 1 p.m., aiming for a season sweep.
