Merrimack College men’s volleyball team achieved a comeback win against Dominican University on Mar. 27, overturning a two-set deficit to secure a 3-2 reverse sweep.
The match is significant as it marks the Warriors’ third consecutive victory and demonstrates their progress during the season. The team recorded its highest kill count of the year with 63 kills in this game.
“What a fight,” said Warrior head coach Hayden West-Mather. “We continue to show how much we have grown and our level to compete has tripled since the beginning of the year. These guys started playing as one and from there, there wasn’t a doubt in anyone’s mind.”
Individual performances played an important role in the win. Dallas Birkenbeuel recorded his third double-double of the season with 18 kills and 14 digs. Max Tkachev reached a personal season high with 22 kills, matching a previous team record set by Birkenbeuel earlier this year at Dominican.
Reece Lindstrom contributed significantly with 50 assists—his second highest total of the season—and added 12 digs for his second double-double of the year. Kyle Standage led defensively with 17 digs, while Nick Tidik posted double-digit kills at ten and also contributed a solo block. Blake Taschner added eight kills, six digs, and four assists.
Looking ahead, Merrimack will face AIC on Tuesday in Springfield at 7 p.m.
