Merrimack Men’s Volleyball defeated Nichols College in a 3-0 sweep on Mar. 25 in North Andover, Massachusetts, during their final home game of the season.
The match was notable as it marked a return for Merrimack head coach Hayden West-Mather, who previously coached at Nichols. “Happy to have a full circle moment,” West-Mather said. “Great to see familiar faces and get a win at the same time. We are still working towards refining our game and getting ready for the post season. Looking forward to showing how far we have come in a rematch against Dominican on Friday.”
Dallas Birkenbeuel led Merrimack with 11 kills, continuing his streak of eight consecutive games with double-digit kills. Blake Taschner contributed significantly with a season-high 17 digs and also added eight kills.
Max Tkachev recorded nine kills during the match, while Reece Lindstrom paced the team with 30 assists and four block assists. The Warriors’ defense was strong throughout, totaling 16 block assists overall, including five from Jack Johnson.
Kyle Standage also played an important role defensively by tallying 12 digs in the victory.
Looking ahead, Merrimack will face Dominican University this Friday for their third meeting of the season as they prepare for postseason play.
