The Merrimack men’s tennis team lost to Quinnipiac 6-1 in its last home match of the season, according to an April 10 announcement.

The result marks the end of Merrimack’s home schedule, with the team now looking ahead to its next contest. The only singles win for Merrimack came from Juan Carlos Portilla, who secured a victory at No. 4 singles with scores of 1-6, 6-2, and 6-3. In doubles play, Portilla and Strahinja Djukic were tied at 4-4 at No. 2 doubles before their match was stopped after Quinnipiac clinched the overall doubles point.

This loss leaves Merrimack seeking momentum as it approaches the end of its season. The team will play again on Friday when it travels to face Holy Cross at 4 p.m.

The broader impact of this result may influence player confidence and preparation as Merrimack moves into away matches and potentially postseason play.
