The Merrimack men’s tennis team lost to Siena 5-2 on March 22, with Tom Van Nooten and Strajinja Djukic securing the team’s only victories in both singles and doubles matches.
The match, held in North Andover, saw Van Nooten win at No. 1 singles with scores of 7-5, 6-4. Djukic also claimed a hard-fought victory in his singles match, finishing with scores of 7-5, 6-7 (3), and a close tiebreaker at 10-8. Together, Van Nooten and Djukic paired up to win their No. 2 doubles match.
Despite these individual successes, Merrimack was unable to overcome Siena’s overall performance across the other matches.
The result marks another challenge for the Warriors as they continue their season. The team will look to rebound quickly as they are scheduled to face Fairfield on Sunday at North Andover High School.
Looking ahead, Merrimack aims to build on the strong performances from its top players as it prepares for upcoming competitions.
