The Merrimack men’s tennis team lost to Quinnipiac 6-1 on April 8. Juan Carlos Portilla secured the only point for Merrimack, winning his No. 4 singles match in three sets after dropping the first set.

This result highlights the ongoing challenges faced by the team as they continue their season. Portilla lost his opening set 6-1 but rallied to win the next two sets, finishing with scores of 6-2 and 6-3.

In doubles play, Portilla and Stahinja Djukic were tied at four games each at No. 2 doubles when their match was left unfinished because Quinnipiac had already clinched the doubles point. Ludolph Wiggett also showed promise by taking the first set in his No. 3 singles match with a score of 6-4 but ultimately lost in three sets.

Merrimack is scheduled to return to action against Holy Cross on Friday at 4 p.m., as they look for improvement in their upcoming matches.
