The Merrimack College men’s track and field team participated in the Jay Carisella Invitational on May 2, marking their final meet before the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship.
The event served as an opportunity for athletes to prepare for upcoming championship competition. Several members of the team achieved notable results across a range of events.
Grant Eastin was runner-up in the shot put with a throw of 15.93 meters and also placed fifth in the hammer throw with a distance of 58.19 meters. Evan Thevenot earned a podium finish in the triple jump with a mark of 13.79 meters, while Hunter Schobel finished fourth at 13.61 meters. Thevenot also secured eighth place in the long jump, reaching 6.58 meters.
Owen LaRoss finished fifth in discus with a throw of 47.93 meters, and Brady Trask took eighth place in javelin with a mark of 51.75 meters. In relay action, Manny Mahoney, Max Zitnay, Jadis Yarbrough, and Thomas Scalia finished third in the 4×100 meter relay with a time of 41.89 seconds.
Keith Townsend placed third in the 400 meter hurdles at 54.29 seconds, while Scalia and Mahoney took sixth and eighth place respectively in the 100 meter dash with times of 10.89 and 10.91 seconds each. Elizardo Melenciano was sixth in the 110 meter hurdles at 14.89 seconds.
The Warriors will next compete at the MAAC Championships scheduled for May 9-10 in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
