Merrimack men’s track and field places second at Skyhawk Invite

Merrimack College’s men’s track and field team placed second at the Skyhawk Meet in Easton on April 25.

The result highlights strong performances across several events for Merrimack. The relay team of Max Zitnay, Manny Mahoney, Jadis Yarbrough, and Thomas Scalia won the 4×100 meter race with a time of 41.75 seconds. Elizardo Melenciano secured first place in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.77 seconds, while Keith Townsend and Melenciano took the top two spots in the 400 meter hurdles.

In other events, Michael Alleva, Aidan Dupill, Reidar Aageson, and Ben Rich finished second in the 4×400 meter relay. Maddox Merlo placed third in the 200 meter dash with a mark of 22.34 seconds. In sprint events, Mahoney was third in the 100 meters at 10.99 seconds; Scalia finished fifth at 11.11 seconds; Yarbrough and Brian Gallagher were seventh and eighth respectively.

Field event victories included Grant Eastin winning shot put with a throw of 15.84 meters and Evan Thevenot taking first place in triple jump with a distance of 13.76 meters. Nathan Molina won long jump at a mark of 6.84 meters.

Several athletes contributed to top finishes throughout other disciplines including javelin throw, hammer throw, discus, high jump, pole vault as well as middle- and long-distance races.
