Merrimack men’s volleyball falls to nationally ranked NJIT in straight sets

Merrimack College men’s volleyball lost 3-0 to the nineteenth-ranked New Jersey Institute of Technology on April 3 in Newark.

The match marked the end of Merrimack’s regular season. The team faced a strong opponent, with sophomore hitter Dallas Birkenbeuel leading the Warriors by recording double-digit kills for the fifteenth time this season, finishing with eleven kills and a team-high six digs.

Nick Tidik contributed eight kills and six block assists during the match. Reece Lindstrom led in setting, providing thirty assists. Blake Taschner added six kills and five digs for Merrimack.

With this loss, Merrimack closes out its regular schedule but will play an exhibition match against Springfield College next week at 7 p.m. The Warriors are also set to compete in the IVA tournament at Barry University on April 16.

The upcoming matches offer Merrimack an opportunity to regroup and prepare for postseason play.
