Merrimack men’s volleyball splits tri-match with win over D’Youville

Merrimack College men’s volleyball team played a tri-match in Rochester, New York, facing Roberts Wesleyan and D’Youville. The Warriors secured a 3-0 win over D’Youville for the second time this season but lost to Roberts Wesleyan 3-1.

In the first match against Roberts Wesleyan, Dallas Birkenbeuel led Merrimack with 18 kills. Reece Lindstrom contributed 10 digs and Kyle Standage had 12 digs. Lindstrom also recorded a team-high of 33 assists. Nick Tidik and Blake Taschner each registered four block assists; Taschner finished with six kills while Tidik added five.

During the second match against D’Youville, Tidik achieved a season-high of 10 kills to help secure the team’s victory. Birkenbeuel, from Chicago, tallied nine more kills, bringing his total for the day to 27. Max Tkachev provided seven assists and six kills in the match. Lindstrom had another strong performance with 28 assists, totaling 61 over both games. Jack Johnson made four block assists while four other players each added two block assists.

The team will play next weekend in a double-header matchup against Long Island University, with matches scheduled for Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m.
