Merrimack College men’s volleyball will open the Independent Volleyball Association (IVA) tournament against fourth-seeded Tusculum on Thursday, April 15, at 11 a.m.
The matchup marks the start of postseason play for Merrimack after concluding their regular season with a record of 10 wins and 11 losses. The team posted a strong performance at home, finishing with five wins and only one loss on their court.
Dallas Birkenbeuel leads Merrimack’s offense this season, recording 272 kills along with contributing 124 digs. Max Tkachev is close to reaching the milestone of 200 kills for the year, entering Thursday’s match with a total of 198 kills and adding another 98 digs to his tally.
Blake Taschner achieved a notable accomplishment by becoming the first player in program history to reach triple digits in three statistical categories—kills, assists, and digs—in a single season. Nick Tidik has reached over fifty blocks this year, standing at exactly 53 blocks so far. Reece Lindstrom has provided steady support as setter with a total of 563 assists during the campaign. Kyle Standage currently leads the team in digs with a total of 187 for the season.
As Merrimack prepares for its opening round match against Tusculum, players will look to build on individual achievements and strong home performances as they aim for success in tournament play.
