Merrimack College’s softball team defeated St. Peter’s Peacocks by a score of 14-6 in the series finale on Sunday, April 12.
The victory was marked by a strong offensive performance from Merrimack, who scored seven runs in the fourth inning and finished with a total of 14 runs. Caity Lemay contributed early and late in the game, opening the scoring in the first inning and later delivering a two-RBI single in the seventh.
During the pivotal fourth inning, Emma Prahin hit a home run to help overturn an early two-run deficit into a five-run lead for Merrimack. Sam Russalesi drew a bases-loaded walk and later scored on an error, while Jamie Calkins added to the tally with a two-run single. Madeline Arvai also made an impact with an RBI double.
Abby Choquette started off another productive inning for Merrimack in the fifth with her own home run. Arvai continued her strong play with another RBI double that brought in two more runs before she herself scored on an attempted steal.
Pitcher Anna Gedacht secured her second complete-game win in as many days, striking out two batters during Sunday’s matchup.
Looking ahead, Merrimack will continue its road trip to face Holy Cross on Thursday, April 16.
