Merrimack College’s softball team recorded a total of 20 hits during its conference doubleheader against Quinnipiac University on March 24.

The games were held in Hamden, Connecticut, and featured strong offensive performances from the Warriors. In the first game, Merrimack overcame a two-run deficit with Dejah Rodeau scoring on a fielder’s choice in the fifth inning. Later, Caity Lemay doubled in the seventh inning and pinch runner Sam Ryan scored two batters later on a single by Madison Metcalf. Despite these efforts, Quinnipiac secured a walk-off win in extra innings.

In the second game, Madeline Arvai opened scoring for Merrimack before Megan Miller hit a three-run double that brought home Arvai, Sam Ryan, and Anna Mitrou. The Warriors added three more runs through hits by Miller, Lemay, and Sam Russalesi to take a 7-3 lead. However, Quinnipiac responded with seven runs to sweep the doubleheader.

Five Merrimack players had multi-hit games in game two: Anna Mitrou led with three hits while Lemay, Arvai, Miller, and Russalesi each contributed two hits apiece. Russalesi also reached her 100th career game milestone during Tuesday’s contests.

The Warriors are scheduled to return home for another doubleheader against UMass Lowell at Warrior Diamond on Wednesday. First pitches are set for 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
