Merrimack Softball earned a split against St. Peter’s on April 11 after a dramatic nine-run rally in the seventh inning of game one.
The game saw Merrimack trailing by three runs entering the final inning, but the team mounted a comeback as Dejah Rondeau scored on a fielder’s choice. Abby Choquette followed with an RBI single to cut the deficit to one, and Alex Miller tied the score with an infield hit.
With bases loaded and no outs, Madeline Arvai doubled into left field, driving in three runs and giving Merrimack its first lead of the game. Caity Lemay and Emma Prahin added three more insurance runs before the side was retired. The inning featured 13 batters at the plate and resulted in nine total runs for Merrimack.
Anna Gedacht closed out the win by pitching a complete game, earning her fifth victory of the season for Merrimack.
In game two, MacKenzie Paulin pitched five and two-thirds innings for Merrimack and struck out four batters. The Warriors will look to secure a series win when they face St. Peter’s again tomorrow at 1 p.m.
