Merrimack Warriors defeat Army 8-4 in series finale with early offense

The Merrimack Warriors men’s baseball team defeated Army 8-4 in the series finale, according to a March 11 announcement. Joey Frammartino reached base four times and drove in two runs to help secure the win.

The game was marked by strong early offense from the Warriors. Frammartino contributed two RBI singles early on and later walked twice, raising his season on-base percentage to .571. Zach Broderick started for Merrimack, pitching three innings with only one hit allowed and no runs. Owen Zardrozny followed with another three scoreless innings without allowing a hit.

Brooks Craigue added to the lead with his first home run of the season, a three-run shot in the third inning that put Merrimack ahead 7-0. He finished his day with the home run and a walk. Freshman Garrett McGovern also had a notable performance, collecting two hits including a double and driving in the team’s eighth run with an RBI single in the fourth inning.

The Warriors will continue their season this weekend with a triple header at Iona. The games are scheduled for Friday at 3 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m., and Sunday at noon.
