Merrimack women’s basketball claims win over Sacred Heart after strong fourth quarter

The Merrimack College women’s basketball team secured a 62-57 win over Sacred Heart on Thursday in Fairfield, Connecticut. The Warriors scored 24 points in the fourth quarter, outpacing the Pioneers’ 19 points during that period. At halftime, Merrimack trailed by two points with a score of 26-24.

Madison Roman led the Warriors with 22 points, shooting 57 percent from the field and recording nine rebounds along with a career-high six steals. Paloma Garcia added 10 points, making all six of her free throw attempts, and contributed five rebounds and five assists.

Se’lah Reddick and Oralye Kiefer each scored eight points for Merrimack. Kiefer also collected seven rebounds and one block, while Reddick provided three assists.

This victory marks the second time in 21 years that Merrimack has achieved at least 13 conference wins, matching their performance from the 2019 season.

The Warriors will play their final road game of the season against Manhattan on Saturday in Riverdale, with tipoff scheduled for 2 p.m.
