Merrimack women’s basketball defeats Siena for fourth straight win

The Merrimack women’s basketball team secured its fourth consecutive win with a 79-60 victory over Siena at Lawler Arena on Saturday. The team established an early lead by converting defense into offense in the first quarter, finishing the opening frame with a 29-10 advantage.

Merrimack was effective from beyond the arc, making 56 percent of its three-point attempts and shooting 53 percent overall in the first quarter. Lydia Melaschenko led the Warriors with 22 points, including four three-pointers, along with six rebounds and two assists. Madison Roman contributed a double-double, scoring 12 points and collecting 11 rebounds, marking her 15th double-double of the season.

Se’Lah Reddick added 14 points on 50 percent shooting from the field, also recording six rebounds and a season-high five assists. Paloma Garcia scored 12 points and made four steals. Oralye Kiefer finished with nine points and matched her season best with five blocks.

The Warriors will play their next game against Sacred Heart at the Pitt Center on Thursday at 7 p.m.
