Merrimack women’s basketball loses to NJIT in WNIT tournament opener

Merrimack Women’s Basketball lost to NJIT by a score of 68-65 in the opening round of the WNIT tournament on Mar. 19.

The close defeat marks the end of the Warriors’ season, which saw them finish with a 19-13 overall record and a 15-5 record in the MAAC conference.

During the game, Se’lah Reddick reached a career milestone by scoring her 1,000th point in the second quarter. Reddick ended the night with 13 points and seven rebounds. Paloma Garcia led Merrimack with 18 points and six steals, shooting 60 percent from the field and making six free throws. Madison Roman contributed a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Daria Shishkina added 11 points on five made field goals.

The loss concludes Merrimack’s postseason run. The team will look ahead to building on this season’s achievements for future campaigns.
