Merrimack College’s women’s ice hockey team is preparing to close out its regular season with games against Maine and UConn. The team remains unbeaten in its last three games, following a 1-1 tie and shootout victory over #14 Holy Cross and a 3-2 win at Vermont.
Goaltender Adreanna Doucette was named Hockey East Defender of the Week for the second time this season after making 69 saves on 72 shots during the recent weekend matchups. She recorded a 40-save performance in one of those games. Doucette has made at least 40 saves in four appearances this season and has ten games with more than 30 saves. She currently ranks among the top ten goaltenders in Hockey East for total saves, goals against average, and save percentage.
Forward Madison Vittands has contributed to the team’s offense recently, scoring her first career goal against Providence on February 7th. She then scored both the go-ahead and game-winning goals in Merrimack’s victory over Vermont on February 15th.
Junior forward McKenzie Cerrato is set to reach a milestone of 100 career games played if she appears in either of this weekend’s matches. Cerrato has accumulated eight goals and twelve assists for twenty points across ninety-nine games, including thirteen points so far this season.
Team captain Solveig Gisler will play her one-hundredth game if she takes part in both upcoming contests. Over ninety-eight career games, Gisler has scored three goals and added ten assists. Her only goal this season came as a game-winner against Maine in January.
