Merrimack women’s track qualifies four for finals at MAAC Indoor Championships

Merrimack College Women’s Track and Field team started the MAAC Indoor Championships at the Armory in New York on Saturday. The team secured four spots in main event finals scheduled for Sunday and earned a total of seven points during the first day.

Marianna Collins won her heat in the 1 Mile with a time of 4:59.93, qualifying for the final. Lily Thomas also advanced to the final with a time of 5:06.49.

In the 400 meter race, Riley Paskow and Rebecca Russalesi qualified for Sunday’s final after finishing fourth and fifth with times of 57.10 and 57.44, respectively.

The relay team consisting of Marianna Collins, Piper Testa, Caroline White, and Lily Thomas finished on the podium in the 4000 meter relay, securing six competition points with a time of 12:10.01.

Elizabeth Murphy contributed one point by finishing eighth in the High Jump with a mark of 1.55 meters.

The conference championships will conclude on Sunday starting at noon. The meet will be available for viewing on ESPN Plus.
