Merrimack women’s tennis defeats St. Michael’s in close match

The Merrimack women’s tennis team defeated St. Michael’s 4-3 on Apr. 7 at Brooks School.

The win is significant for the Warriors as it highlights their performance in a closely contested match.

Giula Martins Cavalcante secured a victory at No. 4 singles with scores of 7-5, 6-4 and partnered with Kiana Thompson to win the No. 1 doubles match, finishing 6-3. Pia Vargas-Lopez also contributed by winning her No. 5 singles match, taking the sets 7-6 (7-2), 6-1, and teaming up with Jordan Phillips to clinch the No. 2 doubles match at 6-2.

Addyson Stadler added another point for Merrimack by winning her No. 6 singles contest with scores of 7-6 (8-6), 7-5.

The Warriors are scheduled to return to action on Tuesday when they host Quinnipiac at Brooks School at 11 a.m., continuing their season.
