The Merrimack Women’s Track and Field team competed in the first day of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 9, collecting four top five finishes.
The results highlight individual performances across multiple events. Katie Sills set a personal best in the pole vault, reaching a mark of 3.65 meters to secure fourth place. Caitlin Garrahy finished fifth in the hammer throw with a mark of 45.05 meters.
In distance events, Avaline Fihlman placed fourth and Maci Chapman finished fifth in the 10,000 meter final with times of 37:52.57 and 38:11.30 respectively. Lily Thomas also achieved a top-five finish by placing fifth in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:00.49.
Several athletes advanced to event finals scheduled for tomorrow. Isabella Tomic qualified for the final round of the 400 meter hurdles after posting a time of 1:04.16. In sprinting events, Riley Paskow, Piper Testa, and Rebeeca Russalesi qualified for tomorrow’s final in the 400 meters with times of 56.06, 56.62, and 58.01 respectively; Paskow also secured qualification for the final round of the 200 meters after clocking a time of 24.80.
