The Merrimack Women’s Track and Field team began its outdoor season at the Black and Gold Invitational in Orlando, Florida, on March 22. The event took place over Friday and Saturday, marking the team’s first competition of the spring.
The meet featured several notable performances from Merrimack athletes. Maci Chapman finished eighth in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 38:28.08. In field events, Bella Hayes recorded a mark of 12.74 meters in the shot put. Hayes also competed in the discus throw alongside Cameron Zuliani, achieving throws of 34.58 meters and 33.93 meters respectively.
On the track, Riley Paskow completed the 400 meter dash in 55.91 seconds while Rebecca Russalesi finished with a time of 57.45 seconds in the same event. Marianna Collins participated in the 200 meter dash, finishing with a time of 22.19 seconds.
The Black and Gold Invitational provided an early opportunity for Merrimack athletes to test their skills against regional competition as they begin their outdoor campaign.
