The No. 8/10 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team split a pair of games against Trinity (Conn.), 4-5 and 14-5 (13 inn.), in non-conference action on Sunday evening at Murren Family Field.

GAME ONE: Trinity 5, Endicott 4

WP (2-1): Michael Aceto (Hamden, Conn.) — 3 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 KLP (0-1): Max Tarlin (Sharon, Mass.) — 2/3 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K

In the top of the ninth, Nicolas Notarangelo (Taunton, Mass.) evened up the score with an opposite field, two-out RBI single through the left side after trailing 4-3 since the seventh inning of the contest.

The Bantams earned the walk-off win in the bottom half, however, via a two-out RBI single up the middle.

Robbie Władkowski (Norwood, Mass.) plated the Gulls’ first run with a sac fly in the sixth, while TJ Liponis (Scarborough, Maine) followed later in the frame with a two-run double down the left field line. 

GAME TWO: Endicott 14, Trinity 5 (13 inn.)

WP (2-0): John Connolly (Attleboro, Mass.) — 5 1/3 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 KLP 0-1): Thomas Fahey (Danbury, Conn.) — 2/3 IP, 1 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 1 K

Endicott broke out for nine runs in the 13th inning to run away with the contest and earn the split against the Bantams.

Seven student-athletes had multi-hit games in the matchup, highlighted by Caleb Shpur’s (East Canaan, Conn.) school-record-tying five-hit performance.

Shpur finished the game going 5-for-7 with two runs, two RBI, and one stolen base.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORES

  • Endicott improved to 7-3 on the road this season.
  • Connolly collected his fourth career win.
  • Trinity moved to 4-3 at home this year.

No. 8/10 Endicott (11-3) hosts Gordon on Tuesday, March 28 at 3:30 PM. Trinity (7-4) welcomes Dean to its campus on Monday, March 27 at 4:30 PM.
