The Endicott women's volleyball team will open up the 2022 season tonight at home against the Engineers of WPI at 7:00 PM. Here's a preview of the upcoming season.
FIVE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Dating back to 2016, Endicott has won four of the last five Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) titles, the last of which came in a 3-1 sweep of rival Roger Williams on November 6, 2021.
- Endicott returns a wealth of talent in 2022, bringing back three of the top four kill leaders from the 2021 campaign, including a trio of 2021 AVCA DIII All-Region members in Amanda Gilbert (Hopkinton, Mass.), Colleen McAvoy (Coventry, Conn.), and Krystina Schueler (Trumbull, Conn.).
- The 2022 campaign will be the 23rd for head coach Tim Byram, who has compiled a career record of 453-303 (.599) at the helm of the Gulls. During his 22 seasons, Endicott has claimed eight CCC titles, and has won at a .837 clip in CCC play, going 159-31.
- McAvoy became the first Endicott women's volleyball member in program history to earn AVCA All-America honors in 2021 as she was named to the AVCA All-America Third Team. This middle averaged 2.04 kills/set, 0.73 blocks/set, and hit at a .412 clip on the year as she helped the Gulls to their second straight CCC title.
- In the last five seasons played, the Gulls are a combined 51-12 (.810) while playing on their home court in MacDonald Gymnasium.
